Diagnostic de l'acidose ruminale subclinique et de la cétose subclinique : création d'un outil d'estimation du risque

Abstract : The subclinical ruminal acidosis and subclinical ketosis are two diseases present in livestock and cause a lot of economic losses. Acute forms are well described but subclinical forms are more difficult to identify because on clinical examination, no sign is specific. The objective of this study is to develop a method for estimating the risk of subclinical acidosis and subclinical ketosis in the livestock. The study was conducted in 18 farms in southwestern of France and the following criteria were observed: body condition score, rumination, particle size of the ration, rate of milk. A veterinarian also conducted blood tests to analyze the concentration of β-hydroxybutyrate. Rumen fluid was collected by ruminocentèse. The pH was measured and protozoa were observed. A PCA was realized to identify the criteria associated with each disease and a logistic regression to predict the diagnosis. The criteria selected by the logistic regression are for subclinical: percentage of cows "thin", average rumination, average weight of dung residue after washing, percentage of particles larger than 1 cm in the ration and percentage of cows with a difference between fat and protein less than 3g / l. For subclinical ketosis: percentage of cows "thin", percentage of cows with a difference between fat and protein greater than 10g / l ,the percentage of cows with a fat continent greater than 48g / l. These results are not significant (p> .05). These results have created an Excel tool to estimate the risk of subclinical acidosis and subclinical ketosis.
