La relation étudiant-patient : accueil et perception de l'étudiant sage-femme par les patientes au CHU de Caen

Abstract : One of the university hospital center’s assignments is teaching. A prospective study’s aim with 145 patients at the University Hospital of Caen was to evaluate the patients’ welcome of midwives students, and their feelings. Realized in the maternity service, using questionnaires and interviews, it shows that women have predominantly looked for the presence of the student midwife, often without any discomfort. In the delivery room, he has been helpful for 98.1% of women. A sense of security is frequently described and, more a trust relationship has been created between the patient and the student, more their satisfaction is important (p = 2,34.10^-12). The student-patient relationship seems to satisfy women, with an average of 8.6 out of 10. However, 10.3% of women have not been aware of this presence, which was imposed in 46.4% of cases. Two of the patient's fundamental rights have not always been respected: the right to information and the right to express his will.
