Credo réaliste, critique sociale et moralisme dans les œuvres de James Lee Burke, Dennis Lehane et George Pelecanos

Abstract : This work will examine the interesting alliance between a realist credo, a strong social critique and an equally important moral component in a selection of hard-boiled fictions by James Lee Burke (Purple Cane Road, In the Electric Mist with the Confederate Dead), George Pelecanos (Right as Rain, Soul Circus, Hell to Pay) and Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River). We will analyze the effects of these works’ realist style on its axiological aspects. Our corpus is furthermore the occasion to assess the literary value hard-boiled fiction can legitimately claim.
