Incidence de récidive comitiale dans les six premières heures de surveillance des patients entrant aux urgences pour crise comitiale

Abstract : Aim: To measure the recurrence of seizure in the 6 hours of monitoring in an Emergency Department (ED). Material and methods: We conducted a retrospective study in a university hospital. Every patient admitted in the ED for seizure was included. We measured the incidence of recurrence seizure in the six hours of monitoring. We also noted the etiology of the epilepsy, and the prognostics factors of seizure to try to identify the promoting factors of recurrence. Results: From January to December 2014, 858 patients were included after a seizure. The average of age was at 48 +/- 22 years old. The sex ratio was at 1.44. 147 patients (17.13%) presented a recurrence of seizure during the 6 hours of monitoring in the ED. The recurrence is more important in partial seizure (simple 21.05%, partial-onset seizure without secondary generalisation 24.4% and with secondary generalisation 25%). There is no significant difference between the recurrence in the six hours of monitoring related to the result of the EEG (p=0.66). Conclusion: It seems to be important to monitor patients who have just presented a seizure for a few hours to avoid the recurrence of seizure and status epilepticus after leaving the ED.
