Étude des variations des paramètres de bancs, cas de l'anchois du golfe de Gascogne

Abstract : The school aggregation is one of the widely common behaviour for the small pelagic species (anchovies, herring, sardine). For a given species the structure of the school may vary depending on environmental (distance to the coast, depth in water column…) or ecological (fish size, school density, population abundance, other species…) conditions. In order to study the possible effect of such factors on the schooling pattern of anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), we analyzed historical acoustics transects where anchovies was predominant during PELGAS surveys (spring), and JUVAGA surveys (autumn). The schools were selected and characterized (density, morphology, size...) by MOVIES software. The school data were statistically analysed to evidence variations in their parameters as well as environmental, seasonal, density-dependence or inter-annual effects. The knowledge acquired will be a great help to the expert duty of identifying echo-traces for stock evaluations by acoustics.
