Développer la prise de parole chez les petits parleurs à travers un album de littérature de jeunesse

Abstract : In primary school, oral language is at the center of learning and holds an essential place in pupils’ success. Nevertheless, numbers of disparities lie between them, as early as their school starts. One of the teacher's aims is to enrich the vocabulary of his pupils and improve their syntax in order to allow them a better proficiency of the language. Youth albums are a widely used tool in primary school which facilitates language acquisition and introduce children to stories adapted for their age by interesting and amusing them. This work focuses on the non French-speaking "little speakers". Its goal is to understand whether a repetitive structure which is close to the daily routine album is suited for improving their language and pushing them to speak up, in both small groups as well as larger ones. The results show that a preliminary work on this album with these particular pupils benefits their language acquisition and their ability to speak up, during collective discussions. However, this study shows that the selection criterion of the album are not pertinent for non French-speaking "little speakers".
