Polar life (1967) / La vie polaire (2014) : les différents modes d’existence d’un film et de sa recréation

Abstract : While the cinema stops being developed, transformed and discussed for no more than a century, through her numerous announced deaths and through its multiple renaissances, a big part of the history of the cinema still remains to write. To make literally the history of the cinema is of a long-term job which requires constantly and collectively of new contributions and discoveries, as well as a questioning perms works which preceded, the whole in a scientific approach. From this perspective, this study wishes to join mainly a specific domain of the history of the cinema, worth knowing the research on the restoration, the rehabilitation and the valuation of the film heritage. The present report indeed aims at dealing with a singular study case which concerned the restoration of movies, to envisage at the same time a wider reflection on this practice of "resurrection" of the old movies, in a theoretical way and in a frame than we shall try hard to make the most pragmatico-historic possible.
