L'ankylose alvéolo-dentaire : étiologie, diagnostic et prise en charge

Abstract : Alveolo dental ankylosisis a pathological fusion between the alveolarbone and the root of a tooth. It is not veryfrequent but itsconsequences on growth, denture, occlusion, periodontium and teethmaybe important. The etiopathogenicmecanisms are not knownyet. Nevertheless, a round of clinical, radiological and electronical tests cannow lead to a precise and groundeddiagnosis. The therapeuticalanswersgiven to the practicioner are also diverses. Theycanbe as simple as an active surveillance or operativedentistry, surgicalsuch asreimplantation, osteotomy, extraction or decoronation, or more complex and pluridisciplinar (surgical luxation withorthodontic extrusion, osteogenous distraction, apicotomy). Thus, treatment planning canbecomplex as thereis no best practice guideline accepted for thatmatter. The conception of a decision-makingtreebased on clinicalcriteriashould guide the practitioner and simplifyhis/hertreatmentdecision.
