Place du médecin généraliste dans la surveillance des patientes atteintes d'un cancer du sein : enquête de pratique dans le département de la Haute-Savoie

Abstract : In France, the number of women in remission from breast cancer is increasing. The monitoring of these patients is seen increasingly entrusted to general practitioners. Objective: To provide an overview of the participation of general practitioners in the Haute-Savoie department in the monitoring of patients with breast cancer and whether their practices are in line with the recommendations. Method: A questionnaire was sent in October 2015 to 464 GPs by email or mail. This is a practice of investigation declarative unpaid and anonymous. Results: The participation rate was 24.1%. This study illustrates the feminization, aging and exercise majority group of the medical population of the department. 93% of responders involved in monitoring. Women participate more psychologically than men and physicians over 60 years in terms of locoregional and metastatic recurrences. The average rate of correct answers was 47% with no significant difference between sex, age and mode of exercise. 29% of general practitioners continue to prescribe additional tests not recommended follow-up after 5 years, mostly doctors older than 60 years. 91% of responders are interested in the dissemination of a summary sheet of the recommendations of experts. Conclusion: The involvement of general practitioners in the monitoring of patients with breast cancer is major but practices vary widely and whose recommendations are not widely applied. This study highlights the need to strengthen the training on the subject.
