Le sommeil partagé, enquête auprès des médecins généralistes de Gironde

Abstract : Bed sharing is a common practice in France and worldwide. While it had been abandoned, the mothering re-appears with a long feeding and on the demand, an important closeness with the baby (porterage in scarf) and the bed sharing. The scientific studies agree on the fact that it increases the success and the duration of breast-feeding but the problem on the sudden death infant syndrome remains complete. We realized a transverse descriptive study, survey of practice with the general practitioners in Gironde from December, 2014 until March, 2015. We received 125 answers from the 300 papers sent to the general doctors in Gironde. 86% of them give advices for the sleeping around of the infant. The majority of the doctors, 42%, advise against bed-sharing and 36% do not speak about it. Only 23% are able to give advices for a bed-sharing completely safe. They find more inconveniences in the bed-sharing than advantages. The majority of the general doctors in Gironde advise against the bed-sharing but what shows us this study, it is a wide ignorance of this subject with a training need for the professionals and an information need for the patient.
