Le langage harmonique des fantaisies et fugues pour orgue de Max Reger : renouveau par l’assimilation d’un héritage ?

Abstract : Reger's harmonic language has given rise to numerous and sometimes virulent positions from musicians and musicologists investigating its theoretical, stylistic and aesthetic underpinnings. This master's thesis applies the theory of harmonic vectors, developed by Nicolas Meeus, to the fantasies and fugues op. 29, 46, 59, 135b in order to re-evaluate Max Reger's harmonic syntax and to reconsider previous points of view about its tonal, modal, or atonal organization.
