Traumatologie du VTT de descente : étude épidémiologique prospective traitant de la traumatologie du VTT de descente, à propos de 138 cas totalisant 178 lésions

Abstract : The main goal of this work was to describe the trauma of downhill mountain biking between July 2014 and November 2016. We collected 129 patients representing 138 patients with 178 traumas. There were 127 (92%) men, aged 27.9 years (11-6 years). The causal mechanism was a direct shock in 83% and it was a ground collision in 86%. 63% were related to a human cause and 36% resulted from a piloting error. The upper limb predominated with 118 lesions (66%), followed by the lower limb with 37 lesions (21 %), and 23 lesions (13%) were axial. The main results were the prevalence of the upper limb, including 48 lesions (41 %) at the shoulder girdle, which represent 27% of the total: 21 acromio clavicular disjunctions (12% of the total) and 25 clavicle fractures (14 % of the total). For the lower limb there were 16% knee sprains. Finally, head trauma (none serious) accounted for 43% of axial lesions. The non-vital trauma of downhill biking is essentially orthopedic. A trauma center specializing in traumatology of limbs and especially the upper limb, is necessary for the management of this sport practice.
