Impact de la formation à l’hypnose médicale et thérapeutique sur la pratique professionnelle des soignants : étude qualitative

Abstract : The use of therapeutic hypnosis is on the rise since a few decades. Its efficiency is documented in several publications. The goal of the present study is to highlight the influence of hypnosis training on the practice of caregivers. This qualitative study is done through computerized self-questionnaires issued to caregivers trained in hypnosis. Training was provided either through the university degree "therapeutic and medical hypnosis for healthcare professionals” or thanks to the Globalescence institute. Participants answer questions divided into three categories: reasons for participating, practice or non-practice of hypnosis, effects of hypnosis on practice. Answers were collected from June 20 through July 10, 2017. 43 questionnaires were analyzed. Hypnosis is one alternative to the current healthcare system. Hypnosis has an impact on communication by improving: the time and quality spent listening, language, consideration for non-verbal communication. It impacts the position of the patient as they become more involved in their medical care. A rebalance of the caregiver-patient relation appeared. The patient musters their own resources and the caregiver not only treats the patient but also guides them. Hypnosis training demands to reconsider the position of the patient and of the caregiver in the interest of goodwill, efficiency and equality. Acknowledging hypnosis training would allow to supervise its teaching and practice in order to guide patients at best.
