Étude de l’influence de la présence d’un infirmier en cabinet de station de sports d’hiver sur le délai de prise en charge de la douleur en traumatologie dans 14 cabinets Nord-Alpins

Abstract : Objective: Study the physician-nurse cooperation benefit in pain management after a trauma in ski resorts medical centers. Methods: this multicenter observational study was conducted during January and February 2017 in 14 medical centers in ski resorts in the French Alps. Included patients were every person coming in the medical center after a trauma. These patients were followed during their examination by one of the study’s investigator in order to measure the delay of pain management, which was the main goal of this study. Secondary goals included the pain scale at the end of the consultation, analysis of factors that influenced the pain management and nurses’ actions in these centers. Results: 182 patients were included in the group with nurses and 73 in the group without nurses. Populations were similar for age and gender characteristics. Results for the main goal showed that pain management, taken care of in 56.59% of cases in the nurses’ group and 57.53% of cases in the other group, was significantly shorter in the group with nurses (12 minutes versus 26.5 minutes ; p=0,0011). Results of the secondary goals showed that percentage of treatment given was more important in the nurses’ group (20.33% versus 8.22% ; p=0,020). Conclusion: this study shows a benefit of the physician-nurse cooperation in primary care on the delay of pain management of patients who are suffering from an injury after a trauma.
