L’évolution des représentations du français régional en Pays de Vaud

Abstract : This thesis proposes a study of the evolution of regional French representations in French-speaking Switzerland and, more particularly, in the canton of Vaud. Today, some French-speaking Swiss speakers are aware of the increasingly limited prestige of their speaking because of their tendency to move closer to the Parisian linguistic model. This propensity may lead to the disappearance of their regional French. The results of our study allow to know the representations of Francophone Swiss women’s linguistic use in comparison with a study carried out 20 years ago by Pascal Singy, associate professor and socio-linguist in the department of liaison psychiatry, University Hospital, Lausanne.
