Réinventer les devoirs à la maison par le biais des activités de la classe inversée

Abstract : Homework has always been a very contentious issue ; both considered as a crucial element for students’ learning process, enabling them to become more independent ; enhance their cognitive capacities and shape their own personalities. But it is also perceived as a factor of academic and social inequalities and as a source of multiple conflicts (between parents and children, between students and teachers and between teachers and parents). This thesis therefore tries to find a solution to traditional homework assignments in the English class in French middle schools so that they become more attractive, motivating and accepted by everyone. How can homework really help students in their learning process and acquisition of new linguistics knowledge ? Can traditional homework be replaced by the flipped classroom activities ? This is what we tried to find out by implementing this new teaching model where students learn a new lesson and do exercices online, outside the classroom, via different interactive teaching materials before coming back to class and exchange with their teacher and peers.
