Compréhension des lois physiques et langage entre 5 et 7 ans; Analyse de corrélations obtenues auprès de patients bénéficiant d’une prise en charge orthophonique

Abstract : Language development is achieved in particular by mapping phonological and semantic information. Sensorimotor skills partly support phonological development but the factors supporting semantic processing are subject to questioning. Studies by Spelke (1992) and Baillargeon (2000, 2008) have shown that infants have early skills in understanding physical phenomena. These allow him to infer about his environment. We have considered the possibility that with children with oral language disorders, the comprehension of physical phenomena participates, in part, in early semantic development by intervening not only on lexical extraction but also on syntax structuring. We submitted a language evaluation battery (CléA, ECPA 2014) and an original test to 47 children, aged 5 to 7 years old, testing their understanding of physical laws. The results show correlations between the understanding of physical laws and certain aspects of morphosyntactic and lexical treatments. The discussion of these correlations makes it possible to better understand the semantic structuring of language, opening perspectives for evaluation and early intervention on the construction of meaning in the context of oral language disorders.
