Impact de l’environnement et des pratiques agronomiques sur la biomasse de la vigne et conséquences sur la production

Abstract : Since 2013, Veuve Clicquot has studied the evolution of the biomass in its vineyard with the Physiocap® sensor. The new practices implemented a decade ago have had a strong impact on the vigour and development of the vine. After a gradual decrease in biomass over several years, a new upward trend is visible across the entire vineyard. The aim of this study is to characterize the impact of the environment and agronomic practices on the evolution of the biomass over the past four years and also the consequences on the quality of production. To achieve this objective, a review of current knowledge on the parameters which influences the biomass and those it influences itself was assembled. Then four years of Physiocap® data were cross-referenced with data from the environment (meteorological history and soil composition) as well as vineyard management practices to try to determine the levers that would give rise to an acceptable biomass every year and which meet the criteria of the house. Thanks to an experiment conducted on a plot of of Pinot Meunier, the effect of the level of biomass on production and also on the efficiency of anti-botrytis treatments has been studied. The level of biomass reveals the balance of the vine and has a powerful impact on the quantity and quality of the harvest.
