Couplage des modèles CHIMERE et ORCHIDEE au moyen du coupleur OASIS pour l'étude de l'impact de l'ozone sur les grandes cultures

Abstract : The coupling of 3D chemistry-transport models such as CHIMERE and terrestrial surface models such as ORCHIDEE is needed to better understand the interactions between atmospheric chemistry and vegetation. These interactions are complex, especially in three dimensions. A 0D model of tropospheric ozone chemistry was therefore first developed to better understand the processes involved in these interactions, and to give us the possibility to test new parameterizations. This model simulates the dynamic of surface ozone concentrations in an urban-type environment, and was tested for heatwave and emission control scenarios. A coupling of the CHIMERE and ORCHIDEE models was then implemented, allowing the models to exchange the leaf area index (LAI), the stomatal conductance and the surface ozone concentrations via the OASIS coupler at an hourly rate. This coupling required the construction of weather forcing data, which permits us to run simulations with the two models (uncoupled) on the same spatial domain and period of time. The results of these simulations were conclusive. This coupling is almost finalized, and will allow us soon to quantify the impact of ozone on crop yields.
