Utilisation de l’algorithmique pour faciliter l’apprentissage du concept d’aire au cycle 3

Abstract : This thesis deals with the notion of area, which is part of the sub-domain “Quantities and measures” of the mathematical subject. Several difficulties can appear concerning the conceptualization of this notion but also concerning its measurement. This thesis intends to raise these difficulties by using of an innovative approach. This thesis seeks to measure the role, the benefits that the use of algorithmic can have in the learning of the concept of area. The experimentation carried out is supported by the Scratch programming software. We have been able to show from the analysis of the results of our experimentation that thanks to using a programming software, the students spontaneously organize and structure their counting procedure to find the area of a figure. We can therefore show that the structuring of the paving procedure allowed by algorithmic has repercussions on their counting procedure: this has influenced them, helped to opt for a structured procedure, and in this sense, to build the formula of area. This thesis is part of the EXPIRE project, which aims to design, deploy and evaluate innovative lessons in computer thinking and mathematics.
