La rétention aiguë d'urine du post-partum : étude de cas au sein de la maternité Saint-Joseph à Marseille

Abstract : Introduction: Acute urine retention is an increasingly common postpartum condition in postpartum services. It results from the association of physiological phenomena related to pregnancy and exposure to risk factors during childbirth. For this study, the research question was: What are the risk factors for acute retention of postpartum urine in patients at St. Joseph's maternity hospital and what are the characteristics of their pathology ? Objectives: The main objective was to analyze the general and obstetrical data of women who developed acute urine retention in the postpartum period in order to compare them with the literature and to accurately describe the characteristics of their pathology. The secondary objectives were to assess the incidence of acute urine retention in a type IIB maternity clinic in Marseille but also to develop a protocol for screening and management of acute postpartum urine retention. to harmonize practices in this maternity. Results and conclusion: 1.03% of patients developed an urinary retention during the study period. This study showed that the patients were exposed to several elements which constitute risk factors such as Body Mass Index (BMI)> 25 for 45% of them, the first vaginal delivery in 70% of cases, the aid instrumental to expulsion. Clinical surveillance of bladder emergence and intermittent bladder emptying during labor and postpartum period appear to be protective. Early management allows a favorable evolution before discharge for more than half of the patients.
