Impact des coiffes pédodontiques préformées (CPP) sur la croissance verticale maxillo-faciale: à propos d'un cas d'amélogenèse imparfaite isolée sévère

Abstract : Abnormal vertical facial growth (anterior open-bite, vertical dysgnathia...) is often reported in association with amelogenesis imperfecta. The purpose of this report is to determine the effects of the preformed metal crowns on vertical facial growth. A patient presenting a severe case of amelogenesis imperfecta was followed for 2 years with multiple cephalometric measurements in order to follow his vertical facial growth. We have also done a review of the litterature. The current studies suggests a genetic or multifactorial origin for the frequent association of vertical disgnathia and amelogenesis imperfecta but the influence of local factors is not clearly defined. The results show an improvement of the direction of patient’s facial growth after preformed metal crowns were placed. The decrease of the dental sensibility and the improvement of the chewing could be responsable of the normalisation of vertical facial growth but cohort studies are necessary in order to conclude.
