Attentes et besoins des médecins généralistes pour améliorer l’abord de la santé sexuelle en consultation

Abstract : Method: a qualitative survey of General Practitioners with semi-structured interviews, with an open theme coding, double coding and a thematic analysis according to Grounded Theory. Recruitment was done through phone calls in order to obtain a sample with maximum variation. A notice has been requested to the Protection Committee for Individuals who stated outside the study. Results: sixteen semi-structured interviews were conducted in Lot et Garonne and Gironde. Doctors described different representations depending on the age, the gender of the patient's sexual orientation. The approach was often left to the patient’s choice, or else often guided by the symptom. The doctors described the improvement of communication skills. The consultation framework could impact the approach, the lack of time, the external requests, were not beneficial to raise this question. Doctors suggested to improve this framework by creating a special consultation dedicate. Revaluating the price of the consultation based on its complexity was suggested. Some doctors were favorable to create a tool for sexual health in order to identify and guide their patient better. Some fields such as domestic violence seemed important to be integrated into the tool because they didn't spontaneously evoke this subject. Conclusion: doctors suggested to improve the consultation framework in order to promote the sexual health approach. They also mentioned an improvement of the communication skills. The use of a tool in sexual health, would identify missed opportunities by the General Practitioner regarding sexual health care.
