Évaluation des adolescents présentant une obésité un an après une prise en charge dans un Centre de soins de suite et de Réadaptation Pédiatrique

Abstract : Introduction: Childhood obesity is one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century because of its high prevalence and consequences in adulthood. In metropolitan France, according to the ESTEBAN study conducted from 2014 to 2016, the prevalence of overweight among children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 is estimated at 17%, including 4% of obese children. SSR offers multidisciplinary care for overweight children during a therapeutic and educational hospital stay. Our study focuses on the development of a new care structure in the PACA region: the SSR Val Pré Vert, which opened in 2014. The aim of our study was to evaluate the impact of this hospitalization on adolescents in France. know a change in their lifestyle. Material and Methods: In this prospective epidemiological study, adolescents aged 12 to 18 with a BMI> 97th percentile and hospitalized in 2016-2017 were included. The psychopathological, weight, physical, nutritional and socio-familial data at the beginning and the end of the treatment were extracted from computerized files. Remote data (≥ 1 year) were collected using a questionnaire provided to adolescents and their families. Results: Out of 29 hospitalized adolescents, the response rate for 1-year data was 41.4%. Anxiety (p = 0.0077) and poor self-esteem (p <0.0001) declined significantly during hospitalization and increased again during the interview. The motivation has dropped after the return home. The Z-Score improved from 4.27 ± 0.81 to 3.31 ± 0.77. An improvement in the practice of physical activity (p = 0.0077) and a decrease in sedentary lifestyle were highlighted. Family dynamics and repercussions were positive in 100% of cases. Only 50% maintained regular monitoring. Conclusion: The management of obesity proposed by SSR Val Pré Vert has shown a favourable impact on psychopathology, body build, eating habits and lifestyle at the end of the stay but difficult to maintain in the long run.
