« Maman, on va à la piscine ? » : la psychomotricité au service de la parentalité en IME

Abstract : Learning after birth about a child’s handicap can profoundly change a family dynamic. Acknowledged by all, this statement implies that parents are more and more supported in the discovery and the acceptation of their child’s handicap. But what about when the child is growing ? Starting from a desire to support and accompany the handicaped child parent’s, the IME in which I did my internship innovated. This essay will tell the story of the creation of a swimming pool group for mother and child. Through the study of my encounter with three mother and child dyads, I will try to expose the psychomotor therapist role in that kind of support. From the handicap announcement to the child’s fulfillment, my focus here will be the handicap’s consequences on the family dynamic.
