Chanter, créer, coopérer : l’éducation musicale au service de la coopération entre élèves et de l’amélioration du climat de classe

Abstract : The study performed through this essay has been carried out within a French class, at the primary school (CE1). This class was selected because the general ambiance did not suit educational purposes. Recent researches demonstrate the sociological and cognitive impact of music on human being. By activating a lot of neurotransmitters, it directly acts on the human’s brain, mood and health. In the same time, last progresses on educational sciences recommend using more explicit methods of knowledge transmission such as privileging teaching through activities and games. Sessions based on musical education are set. The main goal of this study is to develop cooperation in between pupils to enhance the ambiance of the class. This work tends to the demonstrate the following principle: sharing cooperation games and group experiences allowing the pupil to express themselves both contribute to improve class behaviors. As well, the experiences led show that pupils which had to evaluate their own behavior are more likely to cooperate with others.
