Restauration écologique et territoire agricole : s'associer pour envisager et préserver les paysages agroécologiques

Abstract : Lamballe Terre & Mer territory shows a damaged water system. The water quality is alarming and the global warming fosters the swamping of green algae despite a decreasing concentration in nitrates. Over the Chifrouët watershed, we chose to associate the farmers to the ecological restoration approach. A fieldstudy consisting in appreciating the condition of the Chifrouët river enabled us to identify which areas were the most damaged. A survey among 18 farmers from the Chifrouët watershed highlighted the part played by the river in the farming landscape, to understand the agricultural practices and to discuss ecological restoration issues. These studies led to the formulation of guidelines and advice for the Agglomeration community, embedded in an action plan. Whether some farmers are held by the need to increase productions yields, some are also concerned about doing well. A wide gap exists between farmers beliefs and their practices. The promotion of alternatives farming practices is needed. To guarentee the success of wetland protection projects, technicians will have to develop the animation amount of time and the fieldwork with the farmers. Communication resources usable on the field, experience sharing, the display of successful operations are tools that should be developped by Lamballe Terre & Mer Environment Direction
