Influences du vécu, sexe et statut du médecin sur ses représentations des violences sexuelles conjugales

Abstract : Introduction: Domestic violence is the most common form of women violence across the world. In addition to the psychotraumatic consequences, victims of sexual violence experience more depressions, anxiety, pelvic pains, eating disorders, digestive disorders, IVG, unwanted pregnancies… General practitioners remain the primary contact for victims. The objective of this work was to investigate what are the influences of the experience, status and gender of young general practitioners influence in their representation of domestic sexual violence. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive quantitative study was conducted from March to May 2018 among general medical interns, university clinical leaders and university assistants in general medicine, and young general practitioners who had not been qualified or qualified for less than 5 years. Their perceptions of consent and sexual violence were assessed via 8 clinical situations. Those presented situations that were more or less representative of sexual violence in the conjugal context. Results: 850 doctors participated in the questionnaire. This study shows that there is no gender difference, or regarding the experience of young general practitioners for their representation of domestic sexual violence. All participants have the same legitimacy. However, there is a tendency among more professionally experienced physicians to succeed in taking a position more easily. Conclusions: The taboos of domestic sexual violence are being lifted. The legal definition was recently revised (cf the SCHIAPPA law of 3 August 2018). The issue of domestic sexual violence is still under-explored nonetheless paramount. Every new patient must be systematically questioned and then regularly over the course of his life about his experience of violence.
