Leviers et freins au sevrage tabagique chez la femme enceinte et dans le post partum

Abstract : Introduction to the study: Despite current tobacco control strategies and the known risks of pregnancy-related smoking, more than 30% of women still smoke during pregnancy and more than 80% relapse in the postpartum period. Objectives of the study: To identify the barriers and facilitators for smoking cessation in pregnant women and in the postpartum period and then to propose a questionnaire predisposing to the setting up of a future research protocol. Materials and Method: A review of the bibliography was conducted using PubMed database interrogation. 15 articles published between 2014 and 2019 were selected. Results: The main levers for smoking cessation were the perception of risk for the foetus, personal motivation, the influence of acquaintance, the follow-up of health professionals, breastfeeding. However, some of these levers can act as brakes. The main obstacles for women were a smoking partner, inconsistency and lack of information from health professionals, smoking as a means of coping with daily life stress. Conclusion of the study: The barriers and facilitators vary according to the social context of women. Effective interventions to quit smoking during pregnancy should take into account all the factors influencing a woman's smoking. The establishment of a research protocol testing whether these levers and brakes are identical in pregnant women from the population of Marseille would be relevant and will help to promote effective measures of management of smoking.
