Impact d'une réadaptation cardiovasculaire sur l'adhésion au régime méditerranéen aux soins de suite et de réadaptation cardiaque du centre hospitalier de Bastia

Abstract : Introduction : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of cardiac rehabilitation on adherence to the Mediterranean diet.
Materials and methods : This is an observational, prospective, single-center study, with subgroup analysis, performed at the cardiac SSR of the Bastia hospital center, before / after a cardio-vascular rehabilitation program between October 2018 and June 2019. Including patients are adults, admitted to the rehabilitation center, in primary or secondary prevention for a first rehabilitation. Patients who have had previous rehabilitation, have not completed their program or are unable to complete the questionnaire are excluded. The patient responds at admission and at the end of the program to a standardized food questionnaire during a personal medical interview. This semi-quantitative questionnaire includes 14 items evaluating the consumption of the main constituents of the Mediterranean diet by patients. The primary outcome measure is the impact of cardiac rehabilitation on the Mediterranean diet adherence score in patients before rehabilitation begins and then at the end.
Results : 187 patients performed their rehabilitation during the inclusion period. The average duration of follow-up is 52 days. 28 patients are excluded. 159 patients are included. Patients in the cohort are mainly men, retired, in secondary prevention. The average age is 63.4 years. The results of the main criterion show a significant increase in the Mediterranean diet adhesion score of 2.67 points with a 95% CI [-2.96; -2.37], p <0.001. This significant increase is reflected in the subgroup analysis.
Conclusion : Cardiac Rehabilitation increases adherence to the Mediterranean Diet.
