Un juriste nîmois du XVIe siècle, formé à Montpellier, Jacques Bonaud de Sauzet

Abstract : The jurist from Nîmes, Jacques Bonaud de Sauzet, has left no identifiable clues about his life and family. We actually know very little about his education and his career. He is best known for having published in 1526 the first printed edition of Joannes de Terra Rubea, Tractatus contra rebelles suorum ; an eminently political work to which, in the last part, Jacques Bonaud has carefully added a gloss and a Panegyricus. Bonaud made a warmth presentation of his illustrious predecessor, it is true that he could almost identify himself with Terra Rubea, like him, he was a law-graduated from Montpellier University. Once he completed his studies, he settled in Nîmes and became a lawyer at the court of the seneschal, like him he was a fervent supporter of Royalty.
