Mycothérapie : de son usage traditionnel à ses perspectives d'utilisation en pharmacie

Abstract : The word « mycotherapy », or « mushroom treatment », probably dates back to 1997 when the German mycologist Jan Ivan Lelley frst described mycotherapy as « the science of the use of mushrooms with medicinal propertes ». Since tme immemorial, macromyces have occupied a special place in the living world. They are used in Traditonal Chinese Medicine (TCM) for their many virtues. Consumpton of fungi such as Agaricus subrufescens, Trametes versicolor, Ganoderma lucidum, Grifola frondosa, Hericium erinaceus, Lentinula edodes, Monascus purpureus, Ophiocordyceps sinensis, Pleurotus ostreatus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, can be benefcial in treatng many diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cholesterol, fatgue, kidney and liver disease, memory disorders, diarrhea of diferent origins or female sterility,... The common basis of mushrooms used in therapy is immunostmulaton: each of them has a property of stmulatng the immune system through its compositon in β-glucans. The use of mycotherapy must be integrated into a broader vision of the patent's care. In partcular for pathologies neglected by conventonal medicine. At present, mushroom therapy is not known to the general public, so the pharmacist's role as an advisor will be crucial in promotng it.
