Isolement et caractérisation de nouveaux stilbènes prénylés à partir des fruits de Macaranga tanarius (Euphorbiaceae)

Abstract : Cancer is a major cause of death in the world. It is important to develop new compounds in order to acquire new ways to fight the most dreaded cancers. Natural products are known to be potential good candidates in the research of hits of new therapeutic classes for cancer therapy. In 1998, the National Cancer Institute screened 60 human tumor cell lines anticancer drug (NCI60) and identified many promising natural products including schweinfurthines. Those compounds, which show a powerful and selective activity against glioblastoma cell line, are exclusively isolated from Macaranga spp.. Recently, a dereplication study on all Macaranga species of the ICSN extracts library allowed to target new schweinfurthin analogues in fruits, and particularly those of M. tanarius. This phytochemical study allowed us to identify eleven schweinfurthins, of which seven are new minority compounds. The cytotoxic tests results (not yet obtained) will allow to assess the potential of these compounds. Some molecules newly isolated have specific structural characteristics (justifying their confidentiality) that could make them excellent subjects for future preclinical studies.
