Étude comparative du strain ventriculaire gauche 2D et de la fraction d’éjection 3D chez des sujets sains entre deux types d’échographes (Vivid E9 General Electric et Epiq 7 Philips)

Abstract : Aims : Strain and 3D-study are new echography technics improving the assessment of myocardial function. Their use is limited by the variability of their values between vendors. Objective : To find a concordance of longitudinal and circumferential strain, of left ventricular ejection fraction 3D (LVEF-3D) between the GE Vivid E9 and Philips Epiq 7 ultrasound machines. Methods : An echography on GE Vivid E9 and on Philips Epiq 7 was performed in healthy subjects to obtain longitudinal and circumferential strain, LVEF-3D on their dedicated software (ECHOPAC PC version 201 and Q-station version 3,5) Results : Sixty six subjects were included for strain comparison, 44 for 3D volumes. The global longitudinal strain on GE Vivid E9 is -19,7 ± 2,7% and on Philips Epiq 7 is -19,3 ± 2,4%, mean difference of -0,4 ± 2,5% with a moderate concordance (concordance factor=0,52). The global circumferential strain on GE Vivid E9 is -23,2 ± 5,3% and on Philips Epiq 7 -21,1 ± 3,8%, mean difference of -2,3 ± 6,1%, no concordance (concordance factor of 0,14). There was no concordance for longitudinal and circumferential regional strain. The concordance of the LVEF-3D is good between two ultrasound machines with a concordance factor of 0,68, as the end-diastolic volume, the end-systolic volume and the ejected volume. Conclusion : The global longitudinal strain concordance between the GE Vivid E9 ultrasound machine and the Philips Epiq 7 ultrasound machine is moderate, with no concordance for global circumferential strain. Regarding the 3D study of left ventricular volumes and LVEF, the concordance is good between the two ultrasound machines.
