Repérage des violences conjugales faites aux femmes : état des lieux des pratiques des médecins dans les services d’accueil des urgences adultes en Aquitaine

Abstract : Context: every year in France, 219,000 adult women report having been victims of physical and / or sexual violence by their spouse or former spouse. With the increasing number of emergency room visits, emergency physicians are at the forefront of identifying and caring for their victims. However, they remain poorly trained during their studies, and find themselves in difficulty in front of these women. The main objective of this study is to determine the proportion of emergency physicians and medical interns who have previously identified domestic violence on women in emergency reception service. Method: multicenter cross-sectional quantitative descriptive epidemiology study, carried out from February 4, 2019, through May 2, 2019. A survey was sent by e-mail to the general medicine residents who started their internship as of November 2016, including those enrolled in the DESC of emergency medicine, as well as the interns of the DES of emergency medicine from November 2017, as well as to the doctors who practiced in an emergency reception service, in a peripheral hospital center in Aquitaine, out-hospital. Results: two hundred and eleven emergency and / or internal doctors in general medicine, DESC or DES emergency doctor answered our questionnaire. 74.9% of them say that they have already conducted a survey about domestic violence on women in an emergency reception service but not in a systematic way. 86,3% answer that the emergency doctor / intern has a primary role in the identification of domestic violence on women. 81% of our population does not feel well trained or informed about locating domestic violence on women. 50.7% of our population is unaware of the existence of the reference violence against women in their link of exercise / internship. Conclusion: our study emphasizes that emergency physicians and interns are aware of the surge of domestic violence but are not yet tracking it systematically, mainly due to lack of training.
