Opinions et perceptions de professionnels de santé après une formation en E-learning à l’entretien motivationnel

Abstract : Background: in 2014, chronic diseases were responsible for 87% of deaths in France. An important way to reduce chronic diseases is to focus on reducing the risk factors associated with them and improving therapeutic adherence. Motivational interviewing (MI) is an effective key to take up this challenge and its spread in France is essential. The goal of this study is to gather the feedback of 17 non-trained health professionals after their participation in a e-learning training on MI. Method: translation of the MI e-learning training tool created by EQuiP, including the script and the production of videos. Recruitment of primary healthcare professionals in order to carry out a qualitative survey through semi-structured interviews. The interviews were transcribed word by word, then coded and finally analyzed. Results: 5 general practitioners, 4 physiotherapists, 5 pharmacists and 3 nurses were interviewed between June and November 2018. The discovery of the MI through a synthetic and flexible tool gave rise to questions and aroused reflections on the participants’ behaviour during their consultations while transmitting them the basis of the MI. MI is seen as an innovative approach, opposed to a directive approach, promoting patient empowerment. However, interaction is missing, and a deep involvement of the participant is key compared to a face-to-face training. Conclusion: easy to spread out, this training can allow a healthcare team to change its behaviour to improve the management of chronic diseases. Nevertheless, it should be completed by additional trainings with more supervision so that the professional could become "motivational".
