Prévention et prise en charge des troubles liés à l’usage des écrans chez les enfants de moins de 6 ans : élaboration d’un tutoriel pour les médecins généralistes

Abstract : Introduction: modern technologies engage young people at an early age. Publications on the dangerous effects of screens are controversial, recommandations poorly disseminated. In everyday life, a general practitioner can face this new issue, and the biggest concern wich results is: how to respond to it? The aim of this work is to build a tool to assist the general practitionners which can help them to tackle the children under the age of 6 years old on this problem. Method: this is a qualitative project, carried out in 2019 in a three-stages process. The first step was a systematic check of the literature in order to create a reliable tool. The tool's form chosen was a tutorial video which could be included in e-learning. Then, a group of experts helped to refocused on the proper tutorial's aims and has also given the green light. Lastly, practioners participated in focus groups to share opinions and create new propositions. A double encoding from the data issued from this meeting has been performed by individual researchers. A corrected version of the tutorial has been uploaded on a web site dedicated to basic treatment prevention, addictutos.com, and is available for any user. Results: experts provided to the tool a framework which must comply with the RPIB rules and be as faithful as possible, by pointing the importance of intervening on children with disabilities. In focus group, general practitioners appreciated the short and interactive format, judging it quite neutral and concrete. However, they deplored the lack of details about some useful recommendations to give to parents to help them at home. They also highlighted that they could be seen as reproaching and also that the action could be time consuming. Moreover, they suggested to cooperate with paramedics to share the intervention and are planning togive a boost to the subject with different approaches (discussions in maternity wards, signs in waiting rooms, child health record booklet). According to the general practitioners, it is really important to put themselves in the parent's shoes. Conclusion: a video tutorial could be a valid training option and guidance for general practitioners concerning the adverse effects of screens encountered by the children they meet during the consultations.
