Le rôle pro-actif du pharmacien d'officine dans les structures médico-sociales de proximité : exemple des EHPAD (Établissements Hébergeant des Personnes Âgées Dépendantes)

Abstract : Sixty-five years old and more people represent the most exposed population to polypathology. To fight against that, a polypharmacy is usually set up. The main risk of a high quantity of medication is a drug iatrogenism which becomes a public health challenge for this population. We studied the role of the pharmacist through the security drug flow into sheltered homes for elderly dependant persons. The 2009 Hospital, Patients, Health and Territories law purposes the establishment of a “referral pharmacist” for pharmacists who can get involved in sheltered homes that don’t have an internal pharmacy. Furthermore, the pharmacist, who is a drug expert, is involved during the whole process, from the prescription with establishment of preferential list, to the administration and advises about pills which must not be opened. However, legal texts supervising the mission and its earns are slow to emerge which can explain why pharmacists are barely involved as “referral pharmacists” within sheltered homes for elderly dependant persons.
