Proposition de protocole d’optimisation du dépistage et de la prise en charge des troubles de la déglutition en service de réanimation chirurgicale et traumatologique

Abstract : The nutritional status of critically ill patients is an essential parameter for their successful recovery. Management of swallowing disorders and adaptation of food textures are therefore two important and highly studied elements in the management of patients hospitalized in intensive care. However, screening for dysphagia is not always systematic in this population, and the variability of texture denominations among individuals and services can be dangerous. In order to improve nutritional management of surgical and trauma resuscitation ICU- patients, we proposed a protocol for systematic screening for swallowing disorders (using GUSS, already used in the department) in extubated patients, which clarified the role of each professional and the textures to be ordered based on the test result, using IDDSI terminology. We retrospectively evaluated the effects of this protocol by comparing the screening and nutrition data of 60 patients hospitalized in December and January with those of 50 patients hospitalized before implementation in October and November.
