Caractérisation et effets des échanges entre agriculteurs dans une logique de diversification des cultures et d'autonomie protéique

Abstract : At a time when a change of agricultural model seems necessary to answer to the environmental, economic and social issues of the coming decades, the diversification of cultures and the protein autonomy seem to be a way. However, these practices face a socio-technical lock-in and the classical model remains mainly dominant. A way to get rid of this lock has been developed by farmers in the canton of Pouzauges: the exchange of diversification products for a use in animal feed. In this study, we therefore sought to characterize exchanges that contribute to answering these problems, and to measure their effects in terms of sustainability. The exchanges are relatively different, whether it is trade in cereals, protein crops or even meslin. These exchanges are motivated by technical and economic factors, but persist over time thanks to social criteria. Crop diversification significantly improves the sustainability of farms and is stimulated by exchanges. Protein autonomy is feasible on a territorial scale and helps to keep farms competitive. Thus, the exchange helps to give back autonomy to the farmers, while contributing to increase the sustainability of the farms and the territory. By stimulating the diversification of crops but also the introduction of protein crops in rations, the exchange appears as a solution to develop in order to enhance a change in our country side.
