L’orgueil, l’envie et la colère dans les contes de Madame d’Aulnoy

Abstract : Often defined by their moral dimension, tales regularly depict human faults and capital vices. On the basis of ten tales of Madame d’Aulnoy, we studied pride, envy and wrath, and asked ourselves how these sins and fantastic elements blend together, offering the reader an ambiguous moral, between exaltation of virtue and transgression of social norms. We analyzed the characters and the structure of the tales referring to sin before considering the symbolic dimension of these vices and their iconographic representation. Finally, we discussed the concepts of moral and immoral in the texts of the author.
