Comparaison de la qualité de vie des aidants principaux de patients ayant un cancer en soins palliatifs entre prise en charge en hospitalisation à domicile (HAD) et soins de ville : création d’un protocole de recherche

Abstract : Background: Specialized structures in palliative care developed those past years, and helping caregivers has become a public health issue. Objective: Create a research protocol to investigate whether there is a benefit of more than 10 points for the quality of life, as evaluated by the CarGOQoL scale, for primary caregivers of patients with palliative care cancer when supported by a multidisciplinary specialized home care department (HAD), as opposed to ambulatory care delivered in Isère. Methods: This is an epidemiological study, observational, by cohort, multicentric, with a single prospective data collection via a self-questionnaire. This study includes two cohorts of 31 subjects each. The first cohort is made of caregivers of patients in palliative care followed by Grenoble's, home care department (HAD). The second cohort is recruited by CHUGA's oncologists and made of caregivers of patients in palliative care followed by ambulatory care. Quality of life scores obtained from the CarGOQoL scale are then compared between the two cohorts. Conclusion: This work allowed to design a research protocol to evaluate the quality of life of primary caregivers of patients with palliative care cancer when supported by home care department, as opposed to ambulatory care.
