Influence de la réglementation du paracétamol sur son implication dans les intoxications : comparaison entre les modèles français et britannique

Abstract : Instead it is the most commonly analgesic used worldwide, acetaminophen overdose is the most frequent cause of acute liver failure in Western countries. Prevalence of those overdoses is higher in the United-Kingdom than in France. The aim of this thesis is to find causes of this difference. We studied medical files of 100 patients admitted at Rennes’s CHU for acetaminophen overdose and compared them to British studies. It appears that British people took higher acetaminophen’s quantities, what could be the consequence of a higher quantity per box. Knowledge of French and British people about acetaminophen have been studied by a survey. People most endanger themselves when acetaminophen was part of everyday life : this effect can appear when acetaminophen is available in supermarkets, like in United-Kingdom. Finally, we questioned community pharmacies workers about advices they used to give when they deliver acetaminophen, to determine what ameliorations can be established.
