L'action transformative citoyenne : mécanismes, résultats, freins et limites : le cas du cœur des Bauges

Abstract : Mountainous regions, which are particularly vulnerable to climate change, are witnessing a variety of transformative social innovations, driven largely by civil society. Awareness of the climate crisis must be considered when examining the motivation of those involved. Whilst "participatory democracy" is a notion that seems to be unavoidable in current discussion of public policies, the opportunities for inhabitants to influence decisions locally may be questionned. Focusing on recent history and ongoing movements in the heart of the ’Massif des Bauges’, this study highlights the mechanisms at work between the values, commitment and territorial transformations driven by the inhabitants. It also points out the obstacles and constraints encountered by the population, and indicates some ways that they may be overcome.
