Effet du modèle intégratif de Charron dans la prise en charge de la dyspraxie verbale : étude de cas

Abstract : The few studies on intervention in childhood apraxia of speech recommend the use of motor learning principles. Charron's integrative model, based on these principles, brings together the variables recommended in the literature. The purpose of this case study was to determine the effect of Charron's integrative model in the intervention of childhood apraxia of speech, compared to a pure linguistic approach which is frequently used in speech therapy in France. A linguistic intervention focused on phonology was compared to an approach based on Charron's integrative model. The two types of intervention lasted 5 weeks each and were followed by 3 weeks without intervention to assess possible retention. The results suggest a similar efficiency for both methods in regards of the targets worked in session, but a more important effect of Charron’s integrative model about the generalization and the sustainability of the performance. Globally, results seems to be in favor of Charron's integrative model. However, the results cannot be generalized due to the methodology used.
