Écoutez-moi pour que je puisse retrouver qui je suis : l’importance de l’écoute des envies d’une personne âgée institutionnalisée dans le maintien de son identité

Abstract : A senior person may have to enter a retirement home at some point in his/her lifetime.
The reasons for admission may be varied. Over time, the body is affected by ageing but also by the constraints of institutional organizations around us. Over time, one’s body stabilizes while whishes and cravings shall diminish. The psychomotrician, will support the shattered identity of the resident thanks to his expert outlook.
Only through consciousness and bodily expressiveness can whishes and desires emerge.
Listening to a senior person’s desires allows for their body, which has been impacted by the institution, to have a new dynamics. Listening allows the emergence of an essential feeling of existence until the end of one’s life.
