Les enjeux et les perspectives de la mise en tourisme des territoires du nord-est parisien (18e, 19e et 20e arrondissements), de Plaine Commune et d’Est Ensemble par l’art urbain et contemporain à l’ère du Grand Paris

Abstract : Urban and modern art is gaining notoriety in the northeast territories of Paris and becomes an object of touristification. The created works participate in the territorial marketing and the artists must face economic, political and artistic realities. The evolution of the urban and modern art, its institutionalization and its growing commodification tend to change the relationships between the artist and his/her surrounding. The institutional actors, such as the Paris City Hall and Territorial Public Institutions rely on strategies for highlighting and institutionalizing these works for the purposes of Paris center peripheral areas promotion and local development. Action plans and touristic schemes derive from this will of developing a regional tourist center in which Paris should be the entrance of destination. The aim of this strategy is to favor novel touristic products in stigmatized or poorly known territories, especially through urban rides with this theme, in order to promote the destination image on a metropolis-wide scale. A lot of associations and private actors are grafted to and participate in this territorial strategy for developing the “Grand Paris” image or promote touristic products from tourism offices, as well as for events organization.
