Comment s’adapter au changement climatique et à la hausse des degrés alcooliques par le biais des pratiques culturales tout en conservant la qualité des vins ?

Abstract : Over the last fifty years, important climatic changes occurred on Earth because of the increasing of greenhouse gas levels. Temperatures are the first to be affected by this Climate change, but an increase of the frequency of extreme climatic events can also be observed as well as an alteration of rainfalls quantity. This evolution of climate factors, and particularly the higher temperatures, affect wine-growing regions and vines. Indeed, vines phenology stages are occurring a lot earlier than usual which is leading to an increase of grape sugar concentrations and high wine alcohol levels. Therefore, the goal of this study is to reduce this high level of alcohol. Four different possible solutions are tried here: a severe trimming, the use of shading nets, a spray of kaolin on leaves and fruits with a concentration of 20g/l and finally a spray of kaolin on leaves and fruits with a concentration of 60g/l. Measurements about vines water-stress, vegetative growth, and grapes composition during ripening are made regularly during the season. Results analysis has been quite difficult because of the lack of repetitions. Thus, no conclusion could be reached with those results. Nevertheless, they seem to indicate that the net and the lowest concentration of kaolin lead to lower alcohol levels. It would have been necessary to have further measurements. Moreover, it’s important to consider the other factors which may impact grapes compositions, even if it’s a bit complicated to understand and approach all of them in this study.
