Constitution et traitement d'un corpus de communication médiée par ordinateur pour observer l'alternance des langues

Abstract : The colourful diversity of ethnics and cultures in Malaysia bears many spoken languages, with most Malaysians being multilingual. Over the years this mixed community has developed a way of communicating that is not the convention elsewhere. Code-switching amongst Malaysians has become the norm, due to lack of linguistic knowledge they are unaware of this phenomenon, more commonly known to them as a conversational habit. Lack of data and the challenge of compiling data has hindered studies in this field. In this dissertation, I studied the phenomenon of code-switching using a set of data obtained by assembling texts conversations amongst Malaysian students who studied in France. My goal of this study was to create a corpora of “mixed” language practice by assessing the use of languages in messaging applications, often used by Malaysians.
