Saber y creación verbal : pensar el acto de lectura en La tejedora de coronas de Germán Espinosa

Abstract : Germán Espinosa, a great Colombian author, is little known in Europe. His most important work is La tejedora de coronas, translated into French by La Carthagénoise. This historical work is constructed as a long interior monologue that takes place in the 18th century in Cartagena de Indias, New Granada. The female voice is that of Genoveva Alcocer, an invented figure who, by mixing history and fiction, meets the greatest men of the European Enlightenment. Her fight against the Inquisition, a symbol of ignorance, earned her the scaffold from which she expresses herself. This astonishingly complex story interweaves the different memories of Genoveva in a rich textual fabric, which moves from one historical period to another, based on the sensations of its protagonist. This textual study of the inner monologue present in the work makes it possible to raise historical and political questions based on postcolonial studies, while reflecting on the phenomenology of reading. The aim here is to reflect on the word, the silence of the text and the act of reading, as well as the ways in which they intertwine to create a monological writing.
